Drum Fun
Every Wednesday! Hosted by Scott Bishop
The Olympia drum circle known as “Drum Fun” is happening regularly! They are meeting Wednesdays at the United Churches. (110 11th Ave SE, Olympia, WA 98501) They will be making fun rhythms from 7:00pm to 9:00pm and hope you can make it. Bring your instruments if you have some or share theirs if you don’t. Simple instruction is available so don’t let lack of experience keep you away.

There are many benefits to creating music in a group, and it is widely accepted by teachers, youth workers, music therapists, and health practitioners as being an effective way to encourage life skills and develop confidence and self-esteem.
Crow Drummers
If you want to experience the West African style of music it doesn’t get any better than Olympia’s own Crow Drummers lead by the incredible local artist and musician Bret Benraven.
They play traditional West African instruments, djembe, dunun, bells, shakers, etc. and traditional West African rhythms and songs, mostly from Guinea and Mali
as well as original compositions.

Like Samba? Samba Olywa (based in OLYmpia, WAshington) is an amateur percussion and dance group dedicated to building community through the learning and sharing of Samba and other rhythms. Wow, they are everywhere and getting better all the time! Keep up the great work!

Planet Percussion
Fun multi-instrumental percussion band that also performs (ya gotta see them!) This is an amazing ongoing group of volunteers lead by the founder Jay Sicilia. In 2004 they were awarded the “Cultural Diversity and Community Service Award” from Thurston County. This is a really fun and educational musical experience.

Mas Uda
The art of Middle Eastern dancing has been practiced for thousands of years and is still being enjoyed by performer and audience alike. The intriguing rhythms are mesmerizing. Mas Uda Translates to “happy” or “fortunate” and they are famous for sharing their joy and enthusiasm wherever they perform.
Instructor, Kashani offers classes and workshops in dance, Middle Eastern rhythms and finger cymbals among other topics.

Samba Dance Lessons
Dance class continues on Thursday evenings at the Fusion Studio 302 Columbia St. NW Olympia 7:30 – 9:00 pm. Please come, if you would like Samba dance lessons and would like to learn some new choreography.

7 to 10pm, Eagles, Top Floor 805 4th Ave (corner of 4th and Plum, Olympia WA)
3 hours of continuous dynamic drumming. Bring your drum, percussive toys and endurance or just bring your bodies and dance.
All ages welcome in this smoke and alcohol free venue. All levels will benefit from the experience. Fade in and out at your leisure Don’t forget your water!
