This is a class for adults ages 15+.

At the Children’s Mental Health Building
Class Description
This class is geared towards those who have little or no prior drumming experience, but also easily accommodates intermediate players.
For the warm-up we cover the basics such as holding and striking a drum, basic coordination drills.
After that we will learn and play the rhythms listed on the class handout
(see 4/4 Rhythms)
Cost
$30 per month (drop in $10)
Class size will be limited so advanced registration is recommended
Topics include…
- Universal hand drum techniques
- Exercises for timing and speed
- Poly-Rhythms and Improvisation
- Community Drum Circle Confidence
This means that the class focuses on those aspects of drumming that are universal to most any drum or drumming tradition that utilizes hand drumming.
Students are not bound to any specific tradition and learn how to create their own rhythms as well.
Although the class is primarily taught on djembe drums (provided), the goal of the class is to teach people to play any hand drum with confidence and flare in any situation (drum circle, on stage, alone, etc.).

This is a class for ages 15+.
Class Description
This class is geared towards those who have little or no prior drumming experience, but also easily accommodates intermediate players.
The first part of the class we cover basics such as : holding and striking a drum, basic coordination drills, easy rhythms, and playing as a group. After everyone is comfortable and warmed up we simply experience the magic of playing music together – otherwise known as a community drum circle!
Drums are available to use if you do not own one.
Those with prior experience will be given more challenging rhythms and playing techniques.
